Winner: UHRA Best Religious Theme for 2011

This is a high-dynamic range photograph taken by Tim Karau, a professional photographer.

The scene is inspired by a hymn in Handel's Messiah where the highest voices sing "Glory to God" and the lower voices echo "Peace on earth". The scene is from the New Testament, where the Heavenly Hosts sing "Glory to God" after announcing the birth of Jesus to "Shephards watching their flocks at night"

Except for one part, the entire display was assembled from commercial elements. That one part, "Glory to God" needed to be fabricated. It seems that if you want Angels, Sheep or Shephards, you can purchase them. Even the Star of Bethlehem and "Peace on Earth" can be had for a price. But "Glory to God" you must do yourself!

This high-dynamic range picture was taken during the Upper Hastings Ranch Holiday Light-Up in December 2009. The area is decorated every Christmas

A high-dynamic range photograph is created by taking several images at different exposure levels, then combining them to balence the light and dark areas. You can download a 1mb image here.
